Do you want to be a consultant for Activa?

Although we have never advertised vacancies on this site, we get approximately 30 applications to join the company every month!

Since we also get a similar amount of client enquiries and one client is very unlikely to need the services of a consultant full time, whilst everyone seems to subscribe to our methodology, not everyone could ever join.

Activa currently does not employ anyone - even me! We all work as freelance consultants under the company structure. This may change in the future, but only if our workloads are massively increased. If that happens, it is still likely that only the training and admninistration of the company which will require full time employees.

From time to time (not very often) we are contacted by someone who has the X factor that we feel we can bring into our team - since I am actually writing this page to reduce the number of applications we get I would like to outline the sort of thing which would suggest to us that you were the sort of person we would like to represent us. A candidate that would interest us may get us to look at an issue in a way we - or perhaps anyone else has looked at an issue in a different, more challenging way. They may well be entering this business entirely from left-field. They are likely to have had a lot of client facing experience and are likely to be very good humoured by nature.

Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Do you expect to Activa to book you a full diary with paying clients and never see us again?
  • Do you expect those clients to be within a 30 minute drive of your home?
  • Do you see yourself as being a fixed cost to Activa?
  • Do you see consultancy as a high paid business that will get you out of the house?
  • If the answers to those questions are "no", try these ones:

  • Are you applying to us because you were a quality manager and have been made redundant? If so, have you gone back to your original employer to act as a quality consultant?
  • Do you know what it feels like to truly exceed a client's expectation? Have you ever recieved a standing ovation?
  • You want to bring new clients to Activa - we will work with you, lend you our credibility and support - we suggest you have at least two strong prospects before applying to us - tell us about your approach with them when you apply!
  • Being a consultant means people can depend upon you to work at the drop of a hat any time of day, any day of the week. Management consultants are often given work not because the client couldn't do it, just that they couldn't get it done guaranteed by the deadline. Is this firstly something you expect, and just as importantly is this something you are prepared to solicit from clients?
  • A consultants work is quite often spent justifying the next project, partly by developing relationship with a client, partly by massively over-delivering on a project, and partly (crudely put) selling. You are only as good to a client as your last meeting. Is this pressure combined with the pressure of consistently have to sell yourself and Activa's services something you can, and want to deal with?
  • To Activa, the most important quality is whether you can relate to a client in their own language - is that something you can do?
  • Can you easily maniplute Microsoft Office packages that enable clients to maintain their own quality system on an intranet?
  • If the answers to these questions are yes and you would still like to join in with the Activa philosophy, please Contact Us and tell us that you have read this page, please include in your email how you intend to source new business for Activa and what you could add to our site to help our exisiting and prospective customers you will then get back from us a confirmation e-mail to which you can reply with your CV and any other material you wish to attach.
